Attention Students!
Students enrolled in radiologic sciences programs in Alabama have five (5) fantastic opportunities to be involved in their
professional society.
- Student Membership - At only $10 a year, this is a great way to kick start involvement in your professional organization.
Strong professional organizations have the potential to influence public policy and legislation, provide opportunity
to network with others who have the same professional interests and concerns, and promote ongoing education and skills-building.
We encourage you to join today.
- Scholarship Opportunity - As allowed by budget, the ALSRT is able to offer a scholarship opportunity. The scholarship,
the Ralph LeCroy/Ann Watson Memorial Scholarship, may be awarded once annually to a deserving student enrolled in the study of radiologic
sciences. This scholarship promotes and supports educational excellence and opportunity. For more information, see Scholarship Guidelines.
- Student Competitions - What better way to demonstrate your skill and knowledge and represent your school at the same time than
to enter into one of three student competitions held annually in conjunction with our annual meeting? Certificate and/or monetary awards
are offered to competition winners! You may enter one or all of the following:
- Student Bowl - Sign up as a team to compete against other teams in a brisk question/answer competition.
It is great fun that results in a trophy for the winning team. See Student Bowl guidelines.
- Scientific Essay - Follow guidelines for submitting a written essay, then if chosen as a finalist,
present that paper in an oral presentation to an audience at the annual meeting. See Essay guidelines.
- Scientific Exhibit - Follow guidelines for displaying a scientific exhibit at the annual meeting,
where your exhibit will be on display for meeting attendees and will be judged against other exhibits. See guidelines
- Student Delegate on the ALSRT Board of Directors - Beginning in 2012, a student will be appointed to serve as
Student Delegate on the ALSRT Board of Directors. Although a non-voting member of the Board, the student would be able to advise the
Board on issues related to students such as planning of student agenda for annual meeting, promoting participation by students, planning
activities for students, etc. This opportunity will be of particular interest to students who hope to serve in professional leadership
positions after becoming a radiographer. Guidelines outline the details about this opportunity.
- Opportunity to Attend Professional Conferences - As a member, you are invited to attend two meetings held each year, the annual
meeting held in Spring and the regional meeting held in Fall. Both offer educational offerings that will help you prepare for your career
in radiologic sciences.
